The People Behind Trade Data Made Better

Doug is a Harvard and London School of Economics trained Economist with a deep background in building and operating digital platforms to meet strategic needs. Doug oversees business strategy and finance at WiserTrade. Before joining WISER in 2020, Doug co-founded and led product development for 3BL Media, a communications platform for sustainability and corporate social responsibility news. While Doug still harbors his own Hoop Dreams, he is mostly content with volunteer coaching at the local Middle School.

Rick Seifeddine is a graduate of Harvard University and oversees operations and business development at WiserTrade. Rick is an expert in airports, seaports and their international cargo. Prior to joining WiserTrade Rick was the Senior Vice-President of Brand and Marketing at Bell Canada. Rick resides in Montreal, Canada, and has a passionate interest in dogs, photography and all things aviation.

In founding WiserTrade, Steve had the critical insight that trade data can and should be made better — both by using proven estimation methods to improve upon existing data and then making it all more accessible for users' needs. Beyond building WiserTrade, Steve has been a professor of Economics and Business at Penn State University, the University of Tennessee, and the University of Massachusetts. He served on the advisory council to the University of Connecticut's CIBER Center, and contributed to a Center of Excellence for African Economic Development and an African International Trade Hub. Steve also served as both the chief U.S. international advisor and an adjunct Professor at the University of Fort Hare, the oldest historically black higher education institution in South Africa — the institution in which Nelson Mandela and many other African leaders were educated.

Carla has worked with foreign trade statistics since 1987 when the U.S. Census released its first Customs based data on state exports. At that time Carla developed the original system that provided U.S. states with easy access to trade data. Carla manages WiserTrade's relationships with key government and trade data publishers, oversees database maintenance, and heads up WISER's estimates of county level exports, agricultural adjusted exports, and jobs supported by exports. Carla's extensive experience with international trade data and systems is invaluable in helping clients get the answers and solutions they need.
