Three Decades of Trade Data Expertise
Our roots go back to 1987, when the U.S. Census Bureau released its first customs-based data on state exports — and our team built the original system that gave U.S. states easy access to it.
In 2004, WISER was formed to carry that work forward from its university origins at the University of Massachusetts, evolving from an academic research institute into the independent organization behind WiserTrade today.
That heritage shapes everything we do. We don't just resell data — we enrich, cross-reference, and structure official statistics from the world's most authoritative sources, and we build proprietary estimates you won't find anywhere else: jobs supported by exports, state-level services exports, agricultural adjustments, county-level trade, detailed port catchment data, Canadian air cargo weights, and exports as a share of total industry revenue.
