WiserTrade estimates the total number of U.S. jobs supported by exports — not just direct manufacturing jobs, but everyone in the supply chain: suppliers, service providers, consumer-spending-driven jobs, and the government workers funded by the tax revenue it all generates. In 2024, U.S. exports supported approximately 20.8 million jobs when all effects are counted.
Results are broken down by state, by 159 exporting industries, and by partner country — including both goods and services exports.
| Industry | Jobs | YoY |
|---|---|---|
| Professional, Scientific & Technical | 145,952 | +7.3% |
| Machinery Manufacturing | 44,323 | +3.1% |
| Chemical Manufacturing | 38,710 | −37.6% |
| Securities & Commodities | 38,335 | +1.8% |
| Total All Industries | 506,131 | +0.2% |
WiserTrade Exclusive. No other platform estimates export-supported jobs by state, industry, and partner country — including services. Essential for legislative briefings, grant applications, and economic impact advocacy.
U.S. services exports totaled over $1.15 Trillion in 2024 — larger than the GDP of most countries. But the federal government only publishes national totals. There's no official source for which states are exporting services, in which sectors, and to which countries. WiserTrade's proprietary estimates fill that gap.
Services export data by state, by service sector, and by partner country — covering 70+ countries and all 50 states. Data goes back to 2012, with maps, charts, and full download capability.
See how your state's services exports rank nationally — by total value and by sector.
Discover which countries are the largest buyers of your state's services.
Combine goods and services data for a complete view of your trade footprint.
WiserTrade Exclusive. No other platform provides state-level services export estimates by sector and country. For states where services dominate the economy, this data is essential.
When bulk agricultural commodities like soybeans, corn, and wheat move through the U.S. export system, they get comingled in transport, storage, and processing. The "state of origin" on the export form is often the state of shipment — not the state that actually produced the goods. Large port states like Louisiana and Washington get inflated export credit, while producing states across the Midwest and Southeast have their agricultural exports significantly underreported.
Our Ag-Adjusted estimates use a proprietary methodology built on USDA cash receipts and production survey data. We reallocate state-level exports for over 175+ agricultural commodities so export credit goes to the states that actually produced the goods. Updated monthly, broken down by country of destination.
Census (unadjusted) vs. WiserTrade Ag-Adjusted
Your state's true position among agricultural exporters — not distorted by port-of-shipment effects.
Actual year-over-year changes in your state's ag exports — not rates skewed by consolidation points.
When you brief a delegation or pitch an investment, the numbers need to be right. Ag-Adjusted gives you that.
See where your state's adjusted ag exports actually land — by commodity, updated monthly.
WiserTrade Exclusive. No other trade data platform offers state-level agricultural export adjustments. For states with significant ag trade, this is a game-changer.
Explore U.S. trade data at the county level — far beyond what the Census Bureau publishes. Compare imports and exports by county with automatic maps and charts that bring local trade volumes to life. Group commodities by industry or custom lists. Download everything in Excel, Word, PDF, or CSV.
For manufactured exports, we adjust for state-of-origin, filter re-exports, then allocate to county using employment data. For ag exports, we use USDA production data. For imports, we bypass skewed Census state data and estimate at county level using BEA input/output matrices.
Rank and compare export or import activity by commodity, industry, or total value.
Instantly visualize county trade data on interactive, color-coded maps.
See how county-level trade volumes change year over year.
Build dashboards with county charts that update automatically when new data drops.
WiserTrade Exclusive. Census doesn't publish county-level trade data. Only WiserTrade offers this level of local detail.
